Inner Splendor Media is proud to present Inner Peace: Classical Indian Flute and Mohan Veena. Inner Peace embarks on a musical journey through a compilation of alaps, or melodic improvisations that introduce, develop, and explore different ragas. In Indian classical music, a raga (literally translated as “color” or “hue”) is a melodic mode or series of notes within which a body of music is composed and performed.

It is highly unusual to find a body of work, such as Inner Peace, that features only alap performances from musicians at the top of their craft. Grammy Award winner and creator of the Mohan Veena, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt joins virtuoso brothers Flute Raman and Mysore V. Srikanth to bring you the very best of Indian improvisational music.

Vishwa Mohan traces his musical lineage back to a man named Tansen, a beloved court musician to the Mughal Emperor Akbar, who lived during the 16th century in India. Tansen was known for his legendary command of raga. It was said that his music could captivate any heart, and even summon the elements. To this day, Tansen’s tradition of mastery continues, and our varied emotions and moods are yet activated by the mystical power of raga.
